Our private ultrasound service is supplementary to NHS maternity care and does not replace routine antenatal appointments, NHS scans, midwifery care or medical assessment. We do not provide ongoing antenatal care or continuity of maternity care.
If you have concerns about your pregnancy or experience symptoms such as pain, bleeding or reduced fetal movements, contact your NHS midwife or maternity assessment unit promptly. Private scans should not be used as a substitute for medical assessment or urgent care.

Pregnancy ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the developing pregnancy. Examinations are performed by qualified clinical specialist sonographers using professional ultrasound equipment, with the scope of each scan determined by the service selected and the stage of pregnancy.
Depending on gestation and the purpose of the examination, ultrasound imaging may be used to assess pregnancy location, estimate gestational age, visualise the fetal heartbeat, assess for a single or multiple pregnancy or determine fetal sex where visible. Extended scanning appointments may allow additional time for imaging and repositioning to optimise visualisation.
Our range of private pregnancy scans provides access to additional ultrasound imaging at different stages of pregnancy. Each appointment is focused on the examination booked and the information that can appropriately be obtained during that session.
Private pregnancy ultrasound is intended to complement, rather than replace, NHS maternity care.
Gender Scan (from 14 weeks) – £130 | 20 minutes
A private ultrasound designed to determine fetal sex from 14 weeks onwards, where reliable visualisation is achievable. The appointment includes gender assessment where visible and appropriate, visualisation of the baby and heartbeat, three printed 2D images and digital images sent by email.
Premium 4D Baby Scan (from 26 weeks) - £135 | 30 minutes
An extended gender scan offering additional appointment time for ultrasound imaging and visualisation. The appointment includes gender assessment where visible and appropriate, visualisation of the baby and heartbeat, three printed 2D images, digital images sent by email and one video clip.
Postpartum Gynae Check - £90 | 25 minutes
A specialist ultrasound scan to assess selected aspects of your reproductive health following childbirth. Ideally performed from six weeks postpartum, the scan provides imaging of the pelvic organs to help identify findings that may benefit from further clinical assessment. This service complements, but does not replace, your routine postnatal GP or NHS maternity review.
C Section Scan - £90 | 25 minutes
A specialist ultrasound scan to assess C-section scar tissue and surrounding tissues, including potential adhesions or areas of altered tissue appearance. The findings can help inform an individualised approach to scar management and recovery. This scan complements your usual postnatal care and does not replace medical assessment where symptoms or complications are present.
RESULTS & TIMEFRAMES
During your ultrasound appointment, the sonographer will provide immediate verbal feedback and discuss any observations made within the scope of the examination. Where included in your chosen package, printed images will be provided during your appointment. Digital images, video clips and any applicable scan reports will be sent via email within 24 hours of your appointment.

Before your appointment, we recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the abdomen and staying well hydrated to help improve scan clarity.
Please bring any relevant NHS or maternity records, previous scans or notes that may assist the sonographer and follow any specific instructions provided for blood tests.
During your appointment, the sonographer will explain the examination and the appropriate scanning method, which may involve an abdominal or internal (transvaginal) ultrasound, depending on the type of scan and clinical requirements. You will be guided through each stage of the procedure, with the sonographer explaining the imaging process and answering any questions. Your comfort, privacy and consent will be prioritised throughout.
Following your appointment, the sonographer will provide verbal feedback on the images obtained and discuss any observations made within the scope of the examination. Where further assessment is recommended, you will be advised to contact your GP or NHS maternity team for appropriate follow-up.
