IN DEPTH
Five-Element Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of medicine, originating over 4,000 years ago in China. It is based on the understanding that the body and mind are composed of five elements - wood, fire, earth, metal and water, the balance among these elements is essential for wellbeing. Each individual has a primary element which may underlie imbalances and contribute to physical or emotional symptoms.

Treatment involves identifying the root cause of symptoms rather than simply addressing isolated complaints. By supporting the primary element and stimulating specific acupuncture points, this approach aims to restore overall balance and promote long-term wellbeing. Physical symptoms are viewed in the context of emotional, hormonal or lifestyle factors and treatment is tailored to each individual’s presentation.

Acupuncture is particularly suitable for supporting fertility, hormonal imbalances, menstrual cycle issues, menopausal symptoms, stress and anxiety, migraines, chronic pain and as a preventative therapy to maintain general health.

During treatment, sterile needles are inserted at specific points and rarely left in situ for prolonged periods. The practitioner remains present throughout to ensure safety, comfor and effective monitoring of the client’s response.

RESULTS & TIMEFRAMES
Initial benefits may be felt after the first session, particularly in stress reduction or relaxation.
More significant improvements in symptoms such as hormonal balance, fertility support, chronic pain or migraines typically require a course of treatment.
The frequency and number of sessions will vary based on individual needs and response and will be reviewed regularly.
TREATMENT PATHWAY
Before your appointment
During your appointment
After your appoinment
Prior to your initial session, you may be asked to complete a health and lifestyle questionnaire. This helps the practitioner understand your medical history, current concerns, lifestyle factors and personal goals.
The initial consultation combines a detailed discussion of your health, lifestyle and presenting concerns with the first acupuncture session. Needles are applied according to your individual needs and feedback is continuously monitored. A personalised treatment plan is recommended following the session.

Follow-up appointments involve review of your response to previous treatments, discussion of any changes or ongoing concerns and adjustment of the acupuncture plan.
Each session is tailored based on your individual feedback and progress.
Most clients experience a sense of relaxation or subtle symptom improvement immediately following treatment. Minor sensations, such as temporary tenderness or light bruising at needle sites, may occur.
Advice will be provided to support ongoing wellbeing between sessions and follow-ups can be scheduled as clinically appropriate.
