This service is not suitable for urgent skin problems such as rapidly worsening infections, severe bleeding or acute deterioration. In these cases, please seek urgent NHS care.

Each appointment is a clinically focused skin assessment carried out by a dermatology-trained nurse using dermoscopy, a specialist diagnostic tool that allows detailed examination of pigmented and non-pigmented skin lesions beneath the surface of the skin.
The consultation includes:

Full clinical history and risk assessment

Systematic examination of selected moles or full-body skin review

Dermoscopic evaluation of lesions of concern

Clinical grading of lesion risk using recognised dermoscopic criteria

Documentation and explanation of findings during the consultation
Where a lesion demonstrates features of concern, it will be escalated for specialist dermatology review via an external medical reporting pathway. This ensures only clinically indicated lesions are submitted, supporting safe and appropriate clinical governance.
This service acts as a structured triage pathway for early detection and reassurance.

Before your appointment
During your appointment
Before your appointment, please avoid applying makeup, fake tan or heavy creams to the area being assessed where possible. If you are attending a full body skin check, please wear clothing that allows easy access to the areas being examined. You will also be asked to provide a brief medical history relating to your skin health and any relevant risk factors.
During your appointment, your clinician will take a focused clinical history and assess relevant risk factors. A full visual skin examination will then be carried out based on your chosen appointment type. Dermoscopy will be used to assess moles and lesions in greater detail where appropriate. Any concerning features will be clinically evaluated, documented and discussed with you during the consultation. A clinical decision will then be made regarding whether any lesions require escalation for specialist review.
After your appoinment
After your appointment, if no concerns are identified, you will be given reassurance along with self-monitoring advice. If a lesion is considered clinically suspicious, it will be submitted for specialist dermatology review. You will typically receive your dermatology report within 24–72 hours and will be contacted with the results. Next steps may include no further action, routine monitoring, referral to your GP for NHS dermatology assessment or urgent referral if clinically indicated.
