IN DEPTH
C-section scar therapy provides a professional, structured approach to support the functional and aesthetic recovery of post-surgical scars. Many women experience restricted tissue, a noticeable ‘pouch’ or overhang, discomfort or sensitivity around the scar site. Therapy is designed to address these concerns through personalised interventions that promote tissue mobility, reduce adhesions, improve circulation and optimise overall scar healing.

The treatment begins with a comprehensive initial scan using Pure Scan ultrasound. This allows a detailed assessment of the scar tissue, underlying adhesions and tissue health. The findings inform a tailored treatment schedule, ensuring interventions are safe, effective and targeted to the individual’s scar and stage of healing.

This service is suitable for clients with both recent and older C-section scars. Older scars may require a longer course of treatment to achieve optimal tissue mobility, improved aesthetics and comfort..

The therapy is gentle, non-invasive, and personalised, focusing on both the appearance of the scar and the functional movement of underlying tissues.

Clients are advised to wear comfortable clothing and ensure the scar area is clean and free from creams or oils. An initial ultrasound will be required for your first appointment to determine the appropriate treatment plan and assess the scar tissue.
The initial session involves a detailed assessment of the scar and surrounding tissue using Pure Scan ultrasound, alongside a discussion of your medical history, healing progress and any concerns. Targeted therapy techniques are then applied, including lymphatic drainage, which includes gentle massage techniques are used to improve circulation and promote tissue recovery.
Some redness, mild soreness, or tenderness may occur at the treatment site, which typically resolves within a day or two. Clients are provided with guidance on scar care, gentle mobilisation exercises and post-treatment support to continue healing at home.
