Chaperone Policy

At Wellness at No.61, we are committed to ensuring every patient feels comfortable, respected and supported throughout their care. A chaperone is a trained member of the team who can be present during consultations, examinations or procedures to provide support, reassurance and help protect the dignity and privacy of both patients and healthcare professionals.

Your right to request a chaperone

All patients have the right to request a chaperone during any consultation, examination or procedure, particularly where an intimate examination is involved.

You can request a chaperone:

  • When booking your appointment

  • Before your consultation or treatment begins

  • At any point during your appointment

Please speak to a member of our team if you would like a chaperone to be present.

When a chaperone may be offered

A chaperone may be recommended or offered where appropriate, particularly for:

  • Intimate examinations

  • Procedures where a patient may feel more comfortable with additional support

  • Consultations where sensitive discussions or examinations are required

The decision to have a chaperone present will always be discussed with you and your preferences will be respected wherever possible.

Who can act as a chaperone?

Where appropriate, a trained member of the Wellness at No.61 team will act as a chaperone.

If a suitable chaperone is not immediately available, we will discuss the options with you, which may include rearranging your appointment where appropriate.

Your privacy and confidentiality

A chaperone is there to support you and will respect your privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.

All information discussed during your appointment remains confidential and is handled in accordance with our Privacy Notice and professional standards.

Availability of a chaperone

We aim to ensure that a trained chaperone is available whenever one is requested. As a private practice, there may be occasions where a clinician is working independently and another trained team member is not immediately available. In these circumstances, we will discuss the options with you, which may include arranging for a chaperone to be present at a future appointment or rearranging your appointment where appropriate.

Your comfort, dignity and preferences will always be respected and we encourage you to discuss any concerns or requirements with us before your appointment.
